Rest in Peace Sweet Max- Coping with the Loss of a Pet & Oral Canine Cancer- Kansas City Dog & Pet Photography

You may remember sweet Max from a previous blog post. In early April 2010, Kate pulled his cheek back and saw a mass growing on his gums. She immediately made an appointment at the vet and he later underwent surgery to remove the mass. Unfortunately, the pathology report revealed a high grade malignant melanoma. They were referred to a veterinary oncologist and Max has been given regular shots of a canine melanoma vaccine. The vaccine involves a series of 4 shots two weeks apart, and then one every 6 months.

Max courageously fought a tough battle and he even had part of his upper jaw and teeth removed as well. His life was extended because of his loving family who would do anything to help save him.  Sadly, Max lost his battle to Oral Melanoma on December 21. well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,

But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

Max, you will be greatly missed by all those you have touched during your life. But we will see you again someday when our time comes to cross the rainbow bridge too. Rest in peace, sweet friend.
