Adopt a TARA Pet in Kansas City - Rescue, Foster, or Adoption - Kansas City Dog, Cat & Pet Photography

This weekend I had the pleasure of having a booth at the Great KC Pet Expo. While this was a pet friendly event where I was promoting my business, I never forget what is dear to my heart and that is photographing animals up for adoption. I met and photographed some wonderful dogs that The Animal Rescue Alliance brought to the Pet Expo. Please help be the animal's voice and spread the word about fostering or adopting an animal.

About T.A.R.A.
The Animal Rescue Alliance (T.A.R.A.) is an all volunteer group dedicated to helping homeless pets in the Greater Kansas City area. Their organization is the result of an alliance between several rescuers in the Kansas City region who share the same goal of ending animal suffering and homelessness. It is the mission of The Animal Rescue Alliance to establish and maintain the ideals of Tara Nagel with regards to the treatment of homeless and unwanted animals. Tara was an angel on earth who lost her life in a terrible car accident on November 2005. Before leaving us, Tara had found her vocation in working with companion animals and was an angel to the pets that were lucky enough to be under her care. Tara was such a kind, caring and compassionate person, that we are sure she has moved onto something bigger and better. She must have been called to comfort the astonishing number of pets that die without a home. She is now our inspiration and motivation to continue helping pets in need.

Please fill out an online application form if you are interested in any of T.A.R.A.'s dogs.

About Fostering - By T.A.R.A.
Foster Parents provide temporary care for kittens, puppies, cats and dogs in their greater-Kansas City area homes. Some animals only need a home for a few weeks, others may need one for several months. By offering your time, energy, and home to an animal in need, you prepare the animal for adoption into a permanent, loving home. T.A.R.A. is always looking for foster homes, especially throughout the busy spring and summer seasons. The more Foster Parents we have, the more lives we will be able to save.

Fostering an animal can be fun and rewarding. If you think you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please read on. Our goal is to place animals in foster homes until a permanent home can be found for them. By doing so, this animal will learn proper behaviors, become more adapted to a home environment and have a smoother transition when adopted to a permanent home.

Foster Parent Requirements
  • Be willing to have a home inspection.
  • Understand and agree with our program’s goals and requirements.
  • Bring your foster pet to our adoption events. The more exposure they get, the better than chance they have of finding their forever home!
