It's time to meet some more amazing fur babies up for adoption at Animal Haven! I love helping these dogs find a forever home and I am so happy I have made a committment to return weekly. Cyrus, a Pittie mix, is very smart and knows basic obedience commands. He is good on a leash and loves food, so he definitely enjoyed my enticing treats! He gets along with other dogs, however he is not too sure about cats, so a feline-free home would be best. Animal ID 00470.

Remember sweet Ella? She was recovering from Mange the last time I photographed her. Look at that beautiful fur grown back! She is a very sweet Pittie who would love a forever home.

Natalie is a very special Schnauzer. She is a quiet and sweet little girl who loves to be with her people. She is house and kennel trained. Her hobbies include riding in the car, taking walks, lying beside her person & sniffing around the back yard. Please know that Natalie does have health issues - She has an enlarged heart and this will eventually lead to Congestive Heart Failure. The Vet does not know how many years this sweet girl may have left, but she will love you with all her heart with the time she has left. Meet Johnny Walker! What a sweet boy. He is a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix. He was a little unsure of my scary camera, but did enjoy some yummy treats. Animal ID 5475.

This is Danica! She is a super sweet Collie mix. What a camera ham! She was definitely smiling at me and one of the photos really looks like she is saying "cheeeeese!" Animal ID 5759.

Meet Nathan, a Lab mix. He is absolutely adorable and was extremely well behaved. He enjoyed my camera antics and it seemed like he had done this a few times! Animal ID 5496.

And finally, here is Fallon. She was very curious and not too interested in my camera, but I did manage to get this sweet girl's attention just for a minute. She is a Beagle mix and would love you to welcome her into your home. Animal ID 6270.

Cute Distractions

I love taking the dogs I photograph to Shawnee Mission Park in the off-leash dog area. There is pretty scenery, plenty of space, adorable benches, and even a lake with lots of cobblestones. There is also the occasional mud... and always a cute distraction......


My latest cute distraction is this adorable Golden named Dakota. His Dad takes him to the park all the time, and I usually have an encounter with Dakota during my photo sessions. He always comes up to me. Maybe he just really loves me or wants to steal the spotlight and have his picture taken too. OK, who am I kidding? I think he is drooling for a treat! He smells my treat pouch right away and one time I was almost flattened to the ground when he was trying to get to my treats! I cant help but laugh at that moment. My clients are always so understanding when random dogs come up to me and try to get in on the action. Of course I can't ignore another fur baby, so I give them some attention and a treat, secretly hoping they don't distract the current dog I am photographing too much! Dakota, I think you need my full attention for a photo shoot all to yourself really soon. You are a ham! Until next time at the park!

Meet Hercules and Chloe!

I had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful pair of fur babies this weekend! Hercules is a 2 1/2 year old Sheltie and modeling pro. He has had alot of practice with his Mommy photographing him and it shows! What a well behaved little boy. He enjoyed my treats and would give me a little bark if I didn't give him a treat quickly enough after posing pretty for multiple photos, as if to say "Hey silly photographer lady... I did what you asked, now don't forget to give me the yummy goodness!" It was pretty cute!

And then came sister! Chloe, a Corgi/Sheltie is the latest addition - a young pup, just 5 months old. She was a bit distracted by all the excitement at the dog park, but I think I managed to capture her many personalities!

Mom was very surprised when Chloe made a surprise dive into the water! It was a bit chilly and I can imagine the water temperature was not very pleasant!

These two humored me and sat together for a few photos also.


They also had a blast playing tug with their toys.



Awwww come on, Mom! No more pictures! Aren't we done yet?

Famous - The Diva

I had the pleasure of meeting an adorable little 3 year old Chihuahua today named Famous. She is definitely a spoiled little diva, according to her Mommy! Famous warmed up to me, but was not thoroughly impressed with the tricks up my sleeve regarding my enticing treats. It was a bit chilly and this adorable little girl would have much preferred a warm bed, but she was such a good sport. Kathleen, her equally adorable Mommy had her dressed in matching KU sporty spirit.

Homemade Treats for Fur Babies

A quick Saturday night update to the blog:

Ever want a good homemade recipe treat for your fur babies? I found a great one on Dog Tipper's website:

Peanut Butter Bones (click here to see complete information about the recipe!)

Ingredients:

1 cup peanut butter
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup multigrain cereal or bran flakes, crushed (do NOT use cereals with raisins)
1/2 cup shredded carrots
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 tablespoon molasses
1/2 cup water
