Breed of the Week - Pit Bull Terrier - Kansas City Dog Photography

I chose to feature the Pit Bull this week to help others learn more about this breed, who unfortunately is often shunned and overlooked because of its aggressive stigma. You might find the below information interesting if you are one of those who fear this breed.

*This information was taken from Dogbreedinfo.com's website* The American Pit Bull Terrier has a strong pleasure to please. By no means are these dogs people-haters or people-eaters. Their natural aggressive tendencies are toward other dogs and animals, not people.

The American Pit Bull Terrier is a good-natured, amusing, extremely loyal and affectionate family pet, which is good with children and adults. Almost always obedient, it is always eager to please its master. It is an extremely courageous and intelligent guard dog that is very full of vitality. Excellent with children in the family, they have a high pain tolerance and will happily put up with rough child play.

When properly trained and socialized, this is a very good dog and a great family companion. Unfortunately, some choose to promote the fighting instinct in the breed, giving it a bad reputation. For complete information on this breed, visit this link.

Here are three Pitties up for adoption at Animal Haven in Merriam KS. They are still waiting and hoping you might look past the negative stereotype of their breed and give them a chance they so deserve. If you are interested in adopting one of these fur babies, please call 913 432-7548 or visit http://www.animalhavenkc.org/.
